Respiratory syncytial virus may be a pathogen in allergic conjunctivitis

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in conjunctival epithelial cells may trigger allergic conjunctivitis by increasing interleukin-4 (IL-4) and histamine. This suggests RSV is an environmental factor in allergic eye disease.
