Area of Science:

  • Cardiology
  • Cardiac Surgery
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Lipomas are benign tumors of adipose tissue.
  • Cardiac lipomas are rare, with even rarer occurrence in the pulmonary valve.

Observation:

  • A 28-year-old woman presented with syncope.
  • Cardiac imaging revealed a mass in the pulmonary valve.

Findings:

  • Histopathological examination confirmed the mass as a lipoma.
  • The pulmonary valve lipoma was successfully excised surgically.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of considering rare cardiac tumors in the differential diagnosis of syncope.
  • Surgical intervention can be curative for symptomatic pulmonary valve lipomas.
