Summary

Dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) supplementation in broiler chicks mitigated negative metabolic and physiological effects of immune stimulation. CLA improved feed intake and weight gain responses during Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharide challenges.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of dietary CLA on broiler chicks' responses to immune challenges.
  • To assess CLA's influence on metabolic and physiological parameters following Salmonella enteritidis lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or Sephadex G-50 stimulation.

Main Methods:

  • Two experiments were conducted using male broiler chicks fed diets with or without CLA (10 g/kg).
  • Immune stimulation was induced by single or repeated intraperitoneal injections of LPS and Sephadex G-50.
