Background:

To investigate food security in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
To examine food choice determinants, reliance on home-grown food, and vegetable consumption.

Cross-sectional surveys conducted in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in 1997.
Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analyzed socio-economic correlates.

Main Results:

Food cost was the primary driver of food choices, especially in Lithuania and Latvia, and among lower-income groups.
