For capitated provider organizations, the hospitalist concept is rapidly gaining favor as the evidence of cost-effectiveness continues to mount. In the strongest evidence published to date, a review of five years of evidence-based hospitalist studies reports an average 13.4% cost reduction and 16.6% LOS reduction.
