Education campaigns in coronary heart disease

The key messages in health promotion materials have good short-term but poor long-term effects on health behaviour. An individual with risky health behaviour may increase their chances of developing heart disease. Understanding the psychosocial elements of behaviour may help health staff assist patients to adapt risky health behaviours. Nurses are in a prime position to ensure that the health promotion message is received and interpreted accurately by the patient.
