[Carcinoma of the stomach and regional metastases]

The authors analyze a group of 39 patients with gastric cancer in different thirds of the stomach in relation to the incidence of regional nodal metastases and the preoperative evaluation of the proximal and distal resection line. They recommend lymphadenectomy of all three nodal compartments as they are regularly affected with metastases, and mandatory preoperative microscopic examination of the resection lines.
