Summary

Tumor angiogenesis, measured by microvessel count (MVC) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), correlates with prognosis in surgically treated small cell lung cancer (SCLC). VEGF expression is an independent prognostic factor, suggesting SCLC as a model for antiangiogenic drug trials.
