Primary meningeal B-cell lymphoma is a rare condition. This case highlights an immunocompetent man with a cranial vault tumor, demonstrating an atypical presentation of central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma.

Area of Science:

  • Neuro-oncology
  • Pathology
  • Immunology

Background:

  • Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) affects both HIV-positive and HIV-negative individuals.
  • Atypical presentations of PCNSL, such as leptomeningeal involvement, are known, but primary meningeal B-cell lymphoma is exceptionally rare.

Observation:

  • A 40-year-old immunocompetent male presented with a large frontoparietal cranial vault tumor.
  • Neurological examination revealed an extra-axial mass involving the anterior superior longitudinal sinus, extending through the cranial vault into subcutaneous tissue without osteolysis.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection of the entire mass was performed without neurological compromise.
  • Pathological examination confirmed B-cell lymphoma, with no evidence of other systemic involvement.

Related Experiment Videos

Implications:

  • This case illustrates primary B-cell meningeal lymphoma as a rare, atypical presentation of CNS lymphoma.
  • Highlights the importance of considering rare differentials in CNS oncology.
  • Contributes to understanding the diverse clinical manifestations of lymphoma within the central nervous system.
