Merging roles. A successful approach to wound care in the home

Since the Prospective Payment System (PPS) has been in effect for more than one year, home health agencies (HHA) are now beginning to feel the true impact of its regulations. The PPS environment has motivated HHAs to re-design approaches to wound management in order to individualize care, deliver quality, and achieve cost-effectiveness. One technique used by HHAs to achieve these outcomes has been to merge the roles of Wound Care Specialist (WCS) and Case Manager (CM).
