Impacted supernumerary tooth developed under palatal polyp.

Summary

This case report details a rare instance of an infant palatal polyp associated with an impacted supernumerary tooth. Histological analysis confirmed no direct link between the two conditions.

Background:

Palatal polyps are rare in infants.
Supernumerary teeth can cause various dental complications.

Observation:

A case of infant palatal polyp with subsequent swelling was observed.
A calcified mass, later identified as a supernumerary tooth, developed in the maxilla.

Findings:

Surgical removal of the palatal polyp was followed by recurrence and swelling.
Histological examination confirmed the calcified mass as an impacted supernumerary tooth.
No histological relationship was found between the palatal polyp and the supernumerary tooth.
