Systemic sclerosis patients often show cardiac involvement, detected by signal-averaged electrocardiography (SA-ECG), correlating with skin disease severity. This may help identify patients at risk for scleroderma heart disease.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate myocardial involvement in SSc patients using signal-averaged electrocardiography (SA-ECG).
  • To correlate cardiac findings with the extent of skin changes in SSc.

  • 24 SSc outpatients and 24 controls underwent SA-ECG to detect ventricular late potentials (LP).
  • Skin involvement was quantified using the modified Rodnan (m-Rodnan) skin score.
  • Correlation analysis was performed between LP, skin score, and antibody subsets.
