Summary

DNA mismatch repair defects cause microsatellite instability (MSI) in colorectal cancer (CRC). Mutations in the E2F-4 gene were found in hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) and sporadic CRC with high-frequency MSI (MSI-H), implicating E2F-4 in carcinogenesis.
