Abstract:
Burma faces what could become one of Asia's most devastation AIDS epidemics. Faced with a growing number of heroin addicts, and of Burmese women being sold into prostitution in Thailand and coming back infected with HIV, Burmese officials now admit that more than 5000 people have tested positive for the AIDS virus. WHO's office estimates the number of HIV-infected people in the country to be at least 100,000 and climbing.
