The cultural divide between medical providers and their patients--aligning two world views
Abstract:
Medical providers and patients, like all people, perceive and understand the world through cultural media, and often do not belong to the same culture. A medical/nonmedical biculturalism is needed to ensure that patients receive effective communication about their diseases, and sufficient education to respond to western medicine's ability to heal or ameliorate their illness.
