Area of Science:

  • Oral surgery
  • Periodontology
  • Regenerative medicine

Background:

  • Dentoalveolar ridge deformities often stem from developmental issues, periodontal disease, trauma, or surgery.
  • Traditional correction methods exist, but innovative solutions are continually sought.
  • Autografts are commonly used for ridge augmentation, but carry donor site morbidity.

Observation:

  • This case report details ridge augmentation using an acellular dermal matrix allograft as an alternative to autograft.
  • The procedure aimed to correct dentoalveolar ridge deformities and enhance esthetics.
  • Key parameters monitored included bucco-lingual dimension, color match, and papillae height.

Findings:

  • The acellular dermal matrix allograft demonstrated an acceptable esthetic outcome.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Significant improvement in the bucco-lingual dimension of the dental ridge was observed.
  • Excellent color match and no post-surgical loss in papillae height were noted.
  • Implications:

    • This case illustrates a viable, innovative soft tissue surgical technique for correcting dentoalveolar ridge defects.
    • Acellular dermal matrix allografts offer a promising alternative to autografts in ridge augmentation.
    • Clinicians can consider this technique for predictable esthetic and dimensional improvements in ridge reconstruction.
