Background:

Observation:

  • An 18-year-old female presented with a pleomorphic adenoma originating from the right middle lobe bronchus.
  • Surgical resection via right middle lobectomy was performed.
  • Histological examination revealed a tumor morphology identical to salivary gland pleomorphic adenomas, with no mitotic figures observed.

Findings:

  • The resected bronchial tumor showed a histologic pattern indistinguishable from classic pleomorphic adenoma of salivary glands.
  • Absence of mitotic figures suggests a low proliferative potential.
  • The patient experienced no recurrence two years post-surgery, indicating successful treatment and favorable prognosis.

Implications:

  • This case expands the known locations for pleomorphic adenomas.
  • It underscores the importance of considering benign tumors in the differential diagnosis of lung masses, even in young individuals.
  • Complete surgical resection appears to be an effective treatment for bronchial pleomorphic adenoma.
