    Summary

    This study found that oral levodopa did not improve psoriatic lesions in patients with severe psoriasis. The medication showed no therapeutic effect in the studied group over an eight-week period.

    Background:

    • Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition.
    • Nummular psoriasis presents as coin-shaped lesions.
    • Levodopa is a medication primarily used for Parkinson's disease.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the efficacy of levodopa in treating severe nummular psoriasis.
    • To assess the therapeutic potential of oral levodopa for psoriatic lesions.

    Main Methods:

    • Eleven patients with severe nummular psoriasis were enrolled.
    • Oral levodopa was administered at doses of 2-4 grams daily.
    • Treatment duration was up to eight weeks.

    Main Results:

    • Levodopa administration showed no apparent therapeutic effect on psoriatic lesions.
    • No significant improvement was observed in the eleven patients studied.

    Conclusions:

    • Oral levodopa is not an effective treatment for severe nummular psoriasis.
    • Further research may be needed to explore other therapeutic avenues for this condition.
