Abstract:
The substrates of malate oxaloacetic cycle in the uterus and blood hormones (insulin, hydrocortisone, estradiol, progesterone, thyroid hormones) were studied in rabbit experiments. Stationary concentration of the malate oxaloacetic cycle substrata was determined and the role of hormones in the function of this cycle was detected, which helps evaluate the metabolic shifts regulating oxidation in uterine tissue.

What is Metabolism?
Overview
Metabolic Rate
The human body is a powerhouse of energy, with every cell performing numerous functions that require energy. This energy production and consumption is measured by the metabolic rate, which quantifies the total heat generated by all the body's chemical reactions and mechanical work. This measurement helps to determine the rate of kilocalorie (kcal) consumption needed to fuel all ongoing activities.

Regulation of Metabolism
Cellular needs and conditions vary from cell to cell and change within individual cells over time. For example, the required enzymes and energetic demands of stomach cells are different from those of fat storage cells, skin cells, blood cells, and nerve cells. Furthermore, a digestive cell works much harder to process and break down nutrients during the time that closely follows a meal compared with many hours after a meal. As these cellular demands and conditions vary, so do the amounts and...
