Main Results:

  • A new iridoid glucoside, named urphoside A, was isolated.
  • Six known iridoid glucosides (pikuroside, aucubin, veronicoside, catalposide, amphicoside, and verminoside) were identified.
  • A known megastigmane glucoside and dulcitol were also isolated and characterized.

Conclusions:

  • The phytochemical investigation of Veronica hederifolia led to the discovery of a new iridoid glucoside.
  • The study expands the knowledge of iridoid and megastigmane glucoside diversity in this plant species.
  • The structural elucidation confirmed the identity of known compounds and characterized the novel compound urphoside A.
