[Time course of changes in the development of preschool children in Krasnoyarsk]

To study the time course of changes in the growth and development in children, the indices of physical and biological development were studied in 1935 children aged 3 to 7 years who went to the preschoolchildren's establishments in Kransnoyarsk in 1989-1990 and 1999-2000. There were increases in the number of children with intrauterine hypotrophy and in that of preschoolchildren with retarded biological development. In the pattern of disharmonious variants of physical development there was a rise in the proportion of obese children and a reduction in that of lean children. These trends suggest that there are negative changes in the growth and development of children in Kransnoyarsk.
