Area of Science:

  • Obstetrics
  • Ophthalmology
  • Pathophysiology

Background:

  • Preeclampsia affects ~5% of pregnancies, presenting diverse clinical manifestations.
  • Visual system involvement in preeclampsia is variable, with retinal detachment being a rare but serious complication.

Observation:

  • This case report details a 27-year-old primigravida with severe preeclampsia experiencing progressive vision loss.
  • Ophthalmic examination revealed widespread, bilateral serous retinal detachment.

Findings:

  • The patient's retinal detachment resolved with postpartum blood pressure control.
  • Complete visual recovery was achieved, highlighting the importance of managing the underlying preeclampsia.

Implications:

Related Experiment Videos
