Type III endoleak from a thoracic aortic stent-graft

A late complication of Excluder thoracic endografts, a type III endoleak, is reported. Minimizing this risk is crucial for routine use in thoracic aortic aneurysm repair.

- The type III endoleak originated from a hole in the stent-graft fabric, not component fracture.
- An additional Excluder device was successfully implanted to seal the endoleak.
- The repair has remained effective for 6 months post-intervention.
Implications:
- Late-onset type III endoleaks are a potential complication of Excluder thoracic endografts.
- Fabric integrity and sealing mechanisms are critical for long-term endograft success.
- Further research is needed to minimize endoleak risks for routine thoracic endograft procedures.
