Abstract:
Originally syncopes were defined as seizures without organic (W. Schulte), nowadays all periods of unconsciousness not caused by epilepsy but by primary or secondary cardiovascular diseases are included. Precipitating factors, pathophysiology, symptoms and differential diagnosis are discussed.
