[Hainan population growth]

According to statistics, the birth rate in 1980 in Hainan was reduced by 1.77/1000 over 1979, while the natural population growth rate was reduced by 1.75/1000. The number of couples having only 1 child also increased. With the exception of Wanning, Chengmai, and Lingshui Counties, the natural population growth rate in the remaining 15 counties and municipalities declined.
