Area of Science:

  • Mycology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Clinical Pharmacology

Background:

  • Systemic candidiasis presents a significant challenge in clinical settings.
  • Evaluating combination therapies is crucial for improving patient outcomes.

Observation:

  • This study observed the effects of miconazole in conjunction with concurrent medications.
  • Seven patients diagnosed with systemic candidiasis were included in the trial.

Findings:

  • Two patients achieved full recovery and were discharged.
  • Two patients showed normalized clinical status, one improved but was readmitted.
  • Two patients succumbed to the infection, despite treatment.

Implications:

  • Miconazole demonstrated excellent tolerance across all patients.
  • Further research into optimal combination regimens for systemic candidiasis is warranted.
  • Understanding treatment efficacy and tolerance is key for managing invasive fungal infections.
