Abstract:
The Kenya AIDS League Group is a community based organization established in October 1994. Its main goals and objectives are to offer hardship funds for people living with HIV/AIDS and to create awareness of HIV/AIDS among the broader community. A team of 42 volunteers is engaged in information and education campaigns on HIV/AIDS. Project activities include counseling youth on STDs and visiting schools and homes to reach adolescents with HIV/AIDS prevention methods. On home visits, volunteers speak with both teenagers and their parents. Volunteers conduct outreach with groups of college students, social workers, sex workers, and street children. Income generation projects sponsored by the league are beginning to benefit people living with HIV/AIDS. For more information, please contact: Hillary S.
