"The percentage of the population aged 65 or over in the Netherlands is currently lower than in all other member states of the European Union, with the exception of Ireland. The relatively low percentage of persons aged 65 or over can be explained by the fact that the post-war baby boom continued longer in the Netherlands than in most other countries.
