Abstract:
An increased level of colon lithocholic acid, a potential tumor promoter, accompanies a high-fat diet. Lithocholic acid can bind to the intestinal vitamin D receptor and thereby induce the cytochrome CYP3A, which detoxifies lithocholic acid by catabolic reactions.
