[Hydrocephalus and papilledema in caudal tumors]
Abstract:
Another two cases of hydrocephalus and papilledema with cauda tumours are communicated and a multifactorial pathomechanism is discussed. The following recommendations are given to avoid diagnostic and therapeutical mistakes due to an apparently cerebral symptomatology with cauda tumours and only a mild local finding: I. A thorough investigation of the history.--2. An impartial complete neurological examination omitting possible emphasis indicated by the first examiner.--3. A complex diagnostic intergration of single findings (native x-ray pictures, findings of the cerebrospinal fluid) in keeping with the diagnostic survey.--4. A consideration of the differential diagnosis of rare diseases.
