  • The right renal artery typically courses posterior to the inferior vena cava.
  • Precaval right renal arteries represent an unusual vascular variant with potential embryologic origins.

Observation:

  • Three cases of precaval renal arteries were identified during laparoscopic and endourologic procedures.
  • Computed tomography (CT) revealed the accessory artery positioned ventral to the vena cava.

Findings:

  • In all identified cases, the precaval renal artery served as an accessory vessel to the lower renal pole.
  • Associated findings included bifid collecting systems and renal contours suggesting partial fusion of renal moieties.
  • No other precaval renal arteries were reported at the institution in the preceding five years.
