Background:

  • Bladder stones are a frequent complication after augmentation cystoplasty.
  • Increased use of Mitrofanoff channels and bladder neck tightening has complicated endoscopic access and raised stone incidence.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of percutaneous endoscopic cystolithotomy for bladder stones in children with augmented bladders.

Main Methods:

  • Percutaneous extraction of bladder calculi was performed in 13 children with augmented bladders.
  • Access was gained via dilation of the prior suprapubic tube site.
  • Stones were removed intact or fragmented using laser or electrohydraulic lithotripsy.

Main Results:

  • Successful stone removal was achieved in 12 of 13 patients (92%).
