Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate how powerful grip affects ulnar variance.
  • To quantify the change in ulnar variance during maximal grip exertion.

  • 41 male volunteers (19-25 years) underwent posteroanterior X-rays of their wrists.
  • X-rays were taken in a neutral position and during maximal grip exertion using a hand dynamometer.
  • Ulnar variance was measured using the perpendicular method.

Main Results:

  • Mean maximum grip force was 38.1 kg.
