Summary

Resistance exercise protocols for maximum strength, hypertrophy, and endurance did not alter serum leptin levels immediately or 30 minutes post-exercise. These findings suggest exercise type does not significantly impact acute leptin response.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the acute impact of maximum strength (MS), muscular hypertrophy (MH), and strength endurance (SE) resistance exercise protocols on serum leptin concentrations.
  • To compare these effects with a control (fasting) condition.
  • To examine hormonal responses including cortisol, glucose, and growth hormone.

  • Ten healthy young men underwent four experimental sessions: MS (4x5 reps at 88% 1RM), MH (4x10 reps at 75% 1RM), SE (4x15 reps at 60% 1RM), and a control (C) session.
