Summary

Infection plays a role in acute acalculous cholecystitis. Diclofenac (NSAID) did not impact gallbladder lesions or bile infection in this animal study.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the significance of infection in acute acalculous cholecystitis.
  • To evaluate the effect of Diclofenac (NSAID) on bile microbiology in pigs with induced acute cholecystitis.

Main Methods:

  • Acute cholecystitis was induced in pigs via biliary pedicle ligation and lysophosphatidylcholine administration.
  • Two groups were studied: P1 (no Diclofenac) and P2 (treated with Diclofenac).
