Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess short-term cardiovascular morbidity associated with Norplant use.
  • To evaluate electrocardiographic (ECG) changes in women using Norplant.

Main Methods:

  • A prospective observational study was conducted with 21 Nigerian women.
  • Electrocardiographic (ECG) tracings and blood pressure were recorded at baseline and at 3, 6, and 12 months post-insertion.
  • Analysis focused on heart rate, cardiac axis, PR and QRS intervals, rhythm, and signs of chamber enlargement/hypertrophy.
