Effect of ozone exposure on lecithin : cholesterol acyltransferase activity in rat serum
Abstract:
Studies are reported here of relationships of ozone exposure and lecithin : cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) activity in rat serum. Exposure to low concentrations of ozone (1.1+/-0.27 ppm) for 24 hrs, significantly elevated LCAT activity, while the concentration of free cholesterol in rat serum was little changed during the exposure. In contrast, LCAT activity was decreased by exposure to high concentrations of ozone (2.0-2.5 ppm) for 24 hrs.
