Antidepressant efficacy trials (AETs) often exclude patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) based on Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D) scores. This study reveals that common HAM-D cutoffs exclude a substantial portion of patients, impacting trial generalizability.
