Abstract:
The first paper on developmental dyslexia to come from outside Europe was published in 1903 by Otto Wernicke, an Argentinean ophthalmologist. In addition to adding some details to previous descriptions of the disorder, his thoughtful contribution challenged the assumptions of early British authors.
