Abstract:
In the majority of cases, fine needle aspiration biopsy of the pancreas is used to confirm or exclude the presence of malignancy. New therapeutic trials need a precise diagnosis before treatment. Material consists of smears, microbiopsy and monolayer cytology. Microbiopsies and monolayer cytology can also be used for complementary techniques. The sensitivity of the technique is better for solid masses than for cystic lesions.
