[Stem cells. What is their future in regenerative medicine?]

Ethical considerations on the use of embryonic stem cells have been emphasized in many countries where their study in experimental and clinical Medicine is prohibited. On the contrary, different approaches have been used to purify adult stem cells given that preliminary data demonstrate their beneficial use in some pathological conditions. The debate on the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine is open.
