Objective:
To study the chemical constituents in the twigs and leaves of Ligustrum obtusifolium.
Method:
Seven compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of the twigs and leaves by polystyrene resin RA and silica gel column chromatography. The structures were identified by spectral analysis.
Result:
Of the seven compounds isolated six were identified as luteolin, luteolin-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, (+)-pinoresinol, (+)-pinoresinol-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, (+)-medioresinol and (-)-olivil.
Conclusion:
luteolin, luteolin-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside, (+)-pinoresinol, (+)-medioresionnol and (-)-olivil were isolated from this plant for the first time.
