Summary

A rare pleomorphic leiomyoma, a smooth muscle tumor, was found in the Bartholin gland area. Surgical removal was successful, with no residual tumor or lymph node involvement after a second procedure.

Background:

Observation:

  • A 26-year-old woman presented with a large (10 x 7.5 cm) solid tumor in the Bartholin gland area.
  • Initial presentation suggested a malignant Bartholin gland tumor due to size and appearance.

Findings:

  • Pathohistology confirmed a pleomorphic leiomyoma of smooth muscle origin.
  • The tumor exhibited marked polymorphism, myxoid stroma, and biological aggressiveness without mitosis.
  • Immunohistochemical reactions supported the diagnosis and indicated potential for local recurrence.
