Summary

Paraplegics have lower fat-free mass (FFM), body cell mass (BCM), and resting metabolic rate (RMR) compared to able-bodied individuals. However, RMR is similar when adjusted for FFM, suggesting comparable metabolic function in the fat-free body mass.
