Abstract:
The single cell gelelctrophoresis assay is a rapid, simple and sensitive technique for measuring DNA damage and repair at the single cell level. It is introduced into environmental hygiene and plays an important role in many aspects such as detecting and evaluating the genotoxity of environmental toxic substances. In this paper, the underlying principles of this assay in detecting DNA damage and repair, and its application in environmental hygiene are reviewed.
