Summary

Chronic ethanol consumption reduces mannose 6-phosphate/insulin-like growth factor II receptor (M6P/IGF-IIR) protein by decreasing its synthesis, not its mRNA levels. This suggests impaired M6P/IGF-IIR mRNA translation in hepatocytes.
