Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the expression and function of CD14 on HRPE cells in vitro and in situ.
  • To determine the role of HRPE CD14 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory responses.

  • Immunohistochemistry, semiquantitative PCR, and western blotting were used to confirm HRPE CD14 expression.

  • Resonance energy transfer demonstrated CD14-LPS co-localization, and function-blocking antibodies inhibited LPS-induced IL-8 secretion.
