Upsurge in weight loss surgery presents new opportunities for DM behavioral approach
Abstract:
As many as 60,000 to 100,000 Americans are expected to undergo gastric bypass operations this year as a way to shed extra pounds that have turned into morbid obesity. However, experts suggest that many if not most of these individuals will require nutritional guidance and psychological support to help them cope with their drastically changed bodies in such a way that the benefits of surgery will be maximized over the long term. Unfortunately, not too many health care centers offer this kind of support. However, one therapist in Ambler, PA, is hoping to turn her DM-style behavioral program of psychological support into a model that others can follow.
