Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of repeated eccentric exercise bouts on IL-6 mRNA, IL-6 protein, troponin-I (sTnI), muscle strength, and soreness.
  • To determine if the repeated bout effect influences IL-6 response.

Main Methods:

  • Eight males performed two eccentric knee extensor exercise bouts, separated by 3 weeks.
  • Measurements included IL-6 mRNA, IL-6 protein, sTnI, muscle strength, and soreness at various time points pre- and post-exercise.
  • Statistical analysis used 2x4 and 2x8 ANOVAs and the Friedman test.
