  • A 46-year-old male presented with a history of calcifying tendinitis in his left shoulder.
  • Initial imaging (radiographs and MRI) showed calcium deposition in the supraspinatus tendon without a tear.

Findings:

  • Follow-up MRI revealed a partial-thickness rotator cuff tear at the site of calcium deposition.
  • Surgical and histological examination confirmed calcium deposition as the cause of the rotator cuff rupture.

Implications:

  • This case provides serial evidence of calcifying tendinitis progressing to rotator cuff tear.
